Using Library Resources for Business Research

Are you researching a business opportunity and need help finding information?  Do you want to learn more about your competitors?  Learn how the Library can help. Librarians from the University of Mary Washington and the Central Rappahannock Regional Library will provide information on databases and other resources that can help you evaluate business opportunity.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Resources to help entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs make informed decisions to start and grow their businesses including Demographic data, Competitor intelligence, Industry insights, Legal documents and information
  • How to get help to find the information needed and access digital resources
  • Other high value resources that are available to entrepreneurs such as Training videos, Maker space, Meeting space
  • Mapping out a library use strategy

INSTRUCTOR(S): Paul Boger and Nicole St. John from UMW Stafford Campus Library, Alisha Barnes from Central Rappahannock Regional Library

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR(S): Paul Boger is the manager of the UMW Stafford Campus Library. He has worked as a librarian at UMW’s Stafford campus since 2007.   Paul has a Bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University in western New York, and a Master’s degree from the Indianapolis campus of Indiana University.

Nicole St. John is the Reference & Educational Technology Librarian for the UMW Stafford Campus Library. She earned her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina.

All attendees are encouraged to bring their lap top or tablet and CRRL library card to get the most out of this hands-on experience.
